SelfShelf ("we", "our", "the service") is a personal book tracking application operated by an individual based in Bosnia and Herzegovina. You can contact us at: info@selfshelf.app

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only the minimum data needed to provide the service:

• Email address — used for account creation and login
• Password — stored securely (hashed) via Supabase authentication
• Book data — titles, authors, ratings, notes, and reading progress you enter
• Purchase and subscription records — data you manually add to the app

We do not collect: location data, device identifiers, browsing history, or any data beyond what you explicitly enter.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To create and maintain your account
• To store and display your personal book library
• To send account-related emails (confirmation, password reset)
• To verify premium subscription status

We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate SelfShelf:

• Supabase — database and authentication (data stored in EU — Paris)
• Netlify — website hosting
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Google Books API — fetching book cover images (no personal data sent)
• Gumroad — payment processing for premium subscriptions

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase servers located in the EU (Paris, France). We use row-level security to ensure users can only access their own data. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Correction — update or correct your data at any time within the app
• Deletion — request complete deletion of your account and all associated data
• Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format

7. Email Communications

We only send emails that are directly related to your account: email confirmation upon registration, password reset requests, and important service updates. We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.

8. Cookies

SelfShelf uses browser localStorage (not cookies) to store your session and preferences locally on your device. No tracking cookies are used.

9. Children's Privacy

SelfShelf is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
